The U.N. Economic and Social Council for Asia-Pacific (ESCAP) unanimously held its 61st annual general meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 18, 2005, for the first time in Korea in Songdo International City
It has decided to host the Asia-Pacific Information and Communication Technology Development Center (APCIT), an affiliated organization. The bid is seen as a breakthrough achievement that will enhance Korea's influence and role in the international community and secure its status as an IT leader in Northeast Asia in name and reality.
